U.S. Mulls Security In Mideast
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The United States has been examining security measures
in wake of increasing attacks on diplomats and embassy staffers through the
Middle East.
Officials said the administration of President Barack Obama has approved
plans to send up to hundreds of U.S. Marines and other security personnel in
embassies throughout the Middle East. They said the administration, which
placed virtually all U.S. embassies in the region on alert, wanted to foil
an Islamist campaign to expel the U.S. diplomatic presence in Arab states.
