WASHINGTON [MENL] -- Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh has positioned himself to
become the next leader of the Hamas movement, a report said.
The Middle East Media Research Institute asserted that Haniyeh has
become a rising star in both the Gaza Strip as well as in the Arab and
Muslim world. In a report, the institute said Haniyeh, who sought to succeed
political bureau chief Khaled Masha'al, was being supported by Iran, which
has retained influence in the Hamas movement and the Islamist regime in the
Gaza Strip.
