BAGHDAD [MENL] -- Iraq, amid a looming confrontation with Kurdistan, has
signed a defense cooperation agreement with the United States.
On Dec. 6, a U.S. Defense Department delegation signed a memorandum of
understanding meant to facilitate weapons orders worth billions of dollars
to Baghdad. Officials said the MoU would focus on Iraq's plans to acquire 36
F-16 Block 52 multi-role fighters over the next five years.
