LONDON [MENL] -- Saudi Arabia has been hesitating to complete a
multi-billion-dollar naval modernization project.
Industry sources said the Gulf Cooperation Council kingdom has been
negotiating with at least three Western countries for the procurement of
naval platforms and modernization of combat ships. They said the Saudi
Defense Ministry has been talking to France, Spain and the United States as
well as briefed by numerous other states regarding a project that could
reach $30 billion.
