Iran Establishes Air Defense Command

NICOSIA [MENL] -- Iran has established another wing of its military.
Officials said the Iranian Defense Ministry has approved the
establishment of the air defense command as the fourth wing of the military.
They said the air defense command would no longer be under the auspices of
the air force.
A government statement said Brig. Gen. Ahmed Mighani has been appointed
commander of the air defense command. The Feb. 14 statement said Mighani, a
commander in the air force, had been appointed a regional commander in
September 2008.
