Despite Oil Drop, UAE Defense Show Biggest Ever

ABU DHABI [MENL] -- Despite the global economic crisis, the United Arab
Emirates has been hosting its biggest defense exhibition ever.
On Feb. 22, the International Defence Exhibition and Conference, or
IDEX-2009, was opened in Abu Dhabi by UAE leaders. Organizers said the
five-day exhibition
has already been marked by record participation and attendance.
"IDEX-2009 will be a counterpoint to the prevailing market sentiment of
economic slowdown," IDEX show director Mohammed Al Mashgouni said.
