AMMAN [MENL] -- Jordan has replaced its interior minister in an effort to
placate the Islamic opposition.
Prime Minister Nader Dahabi reshuffled his Cabinet that included the
dismissal of Interior Minister Eid Al Fayez. Al Fayez was replaced by Nayef
Al Qadi in wake of protests by the Islamic opposition for the crackdown
against Hamas supporters in early 2009.
"It was a result of parliamentary, tribal and regional pressures,"
Jordanian analyst Fahd Kheitan said.
