AQIM Moves Closer To West
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- Al Qaida's network in North Africa was approaching
operational capability in the West, a report said.
The Potomac Institute for Policy Studies asserted that Al Qaida
Organization in the Islamic Maghreb has taken over much of North Africa and
the Sahel region as the movement shifted from Pakistan toward the West. In a
report, author Yonah Alexander said AQIM's base in North Africa enabled the
network to attack Europe and the United States.
