UAE To Host First Satellite Center
ABU DHABI [MENL] -- The United Arab Emirates has agreed to host the first
satellite listening center in the Middle East.
The Gulf Satellite Program calls for the construction of a ground
station to receive data from reconnaissance satellites launched over the
next five years. Under the program, the facility, meant to focus on defense
missions, would be linked to other satellite ground stations around the
world.
The project would be carried out by the U.S. firm 4C Controls Inc. and
the UAE's Hydra Trading. Executives said the two companies would build the
so-called 4C Gulf Earth Observation Center in a $1 billion project.
