Iraq Begins To Learn U.S. MBT
BAGHDAD [MENL] -- The U.S. military has begun to train its Iraqi
counterpart to operate an advanced main battle tank.
The U.S. military has begun training Iraq Army soldiers on the
U.S.-origin M1A1 Abrams MBT. The training has been taking place at the
Besmaya Range Complex in preparation for eventual U.S. delivery of the first
M1A1s to Baghdad.
"They first learn how to operate the main gun, and then advance to
acquiring multiple targets," U.S. Army Lt. Col. Timothy Renshaw, a senior
adviser, said.
