ABU DHABI [MENL] -- Qatar, alarmed by the Syrian military offensive against
Sunni rebels, fears an insurgency campaign sponsored by President Bashar
Assad.
Arab diplomatic sources said Qatar's Emir Hamad has expressed concerns
that Assad might order a destabilization campaign against supporters of the
Sunni rebels in Syria. The sources said Hamad appealed to the United States
for military intervention that would oust Assad and result in a pro-Western
regime.
