Assad Arms Alawites In Lebanon

NICOSIA [MENL] -- The regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad has armed and
directed Alawites in battles against Sunnis in Lebanon.
Arab diplomatic sources said the Assad regime, aided by Iran and
Hizbullah, have armed and trained Alawites in northern Lebanon. The sources
said the Alawites, in the bloodiest battles since the civil war in 1990,
were shelling Sunni areas believed to have aided the rebels in Syria with
weapons and fighters.
