U.S. Ignores Prospect Of Losing Bahrain
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The United States has refused to plan for the prospect
of losing its naval headquarters in Bahrain, a report said.
The Brookings Institution asserted that the administration of President
Barack Obama has dismissed the prospect that the Shi'ite revolt in Bahrain
could lead to the loss of the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet in the Gulf
Cooperation Council kingdom. Authored by a U.S. Navy officer, the report
said Washington does not want to threaten relations with Manama by preparing
for such a scenario.
