WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The U.S. military plans to increase engagement with
Middle East states amid the withdrawal from Afghanistan over the next year.
Officials said Central Command, responsible for Afghanistan and much of
the Middle East, would seek to increase exercises, training and exchanges
with Arab and other regional states. They said such activities were meant to
sustain strategic partnerships amid a reduced U.S. military footprint.
