Israel Opposes Foreign Troops In W. Bank
JERUSALEM [MENL] -- Israel has outlined its opposition to foreign
peace-keepers to serve as a buffer with the West Bank.
A leading Israeli minister asserted that the Jewish state could not
accept security arrangements in the West Bank based on United Nations or
other foreign troops. Strategic Affairs Minister Yuval Steinitz, regarded as
close to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, said a Palestinian state would
be acceptable only if it brought "genuine" peace and security."
