Al Qaida Recruits Thousands In Sinai
TEL AVIV [MENL] -- Israel's intelligence community has determined that Al
Qaida recruited thousands of fighters and logistics operatives in Egypt's
Sinai Peninsula.
Officials said the intelligence community has assessed that Al Qaida and
affiliated groups accumulated a force of some 3,000 fighters in Sinai.
They said at least 80 percent of the operatives were located in northeastern
Sinai between the cities of El Arish and Rafah.
