WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The United States has been helping maintain Yemen's air
force amid the campaign against Al Qaida.
The Center for Strategic and International Studies said the
administration of President Barack Obama was administering several
small-scale programs to sustain Yemen's aging military, based on Russian
combat platforms. In a report, CSIS said the Foreign Military Finance
programs included the transfer of U.S. surplus and the maintenance of
American-origin fixed-wing aircraft.
