Algeria Expands Police In War Against AQIM
CAIRO [MENL] -- Algeria has decided to rapidly expand its police and
security force in an effort to battle the Al Qaida network.
Officials said the police force would be increased from the current
160,000 to 200,000 by 2010. They said police recruitment and training have
been proceeding in several provinces around the capital Algiers.
"We don't have enough police in provinces where the terrorists are
active," an official said.
