ABU DHABI [MENL] -- The United Arab Emirates has demanded security
cooperation with Russia to help monitor the Chechen exile community.
Officials said Russia, in wake of the assassination of a leading former
commander, has used its proxies to target Chechen exiles throughout the
Gulf. They said Chechen rebel organizers and financiers have been identified
and targeted for attack.
"Russia must move and take a firm position to rein in these killers,"
Lt. Gen. Dahi Khalfan Tamim, commander of the UAE's Dubai police, said.
