ATHENS [MENL] -- French defense contractors have bolstered their presence in
Greece.
In 2008, several French defense majors have opened offices in Athens as
part of cooperation efforts. The latest was DCNS, which has established a
presence in Greece.
DCNS has participated in a Greek tender to provide six new-generation
frigates to the Hellenic Navy. In 2006, DCNS signed a cooperation agreement
with Greece's Elefsis Shipyards for joint frigate production.
The DCNS office was opened on April 14 in a ceremony attended by
chairman Jean-Marie Poimboeuf. Poimboeuf stressed his company's commitment
to establish a long-term presence in Greece.
