U.S. In Debate Over What To Leave For Iraq
WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The U.S. military and the Defense Department have been
debating how much equipment and facilities to leave to Iraq.
Officials said the debate concerns plans to withdraw from virtually all
of the 351 bases in Iraq over the next two years. They said U.S. commanders
and Defense Department officials were examining how much equipment should be
returned to the United States rather than simply left for the Iraqi security
forces.
