Israel Mulls German-Designed Corvette
TEL AVIV [MENL] -- Israel has been examining the feasibility of assembling a
German-designed naval corvette.
Military sources said the Israel Navy has been briefed by Germany's
Blohm and Voss on a proposal to build its 2,000-ton small Meko-class
corvette in the Jewish state. Under the proposal, which envisioned the first
Israeli-produced major naval platform, the German ship, Meko, would be
assembled at Israel Shipyards in Haifa.
