ANKARA [MENL] -- An Italian defense major has entered Turkey's civilian
aerospace market.
Italy's AgustaWestland, which won an estimated $2 billion contract to
supply attack helicopters to the Turkish military, has also begun supplying
civilian helicopters to Ankara. The client was identified as Turkey's Kaan
Havacilik, which received two AW109 Power light twin turbine engine
helicopters on April 30.
"AgustaWestland has experienced a significant growth in the Turkish
commercial helicopter market in recent years and has a longstanding presence
in the country through both its products and commercial as well as
industrial relationships with Turkish companies," AgustaWestland said.
